命运的无形枷锁——析《无名的裘德》中淑的妥协性

摘　要：《无名的裘德》讲述了贫穷青年裘德和淑的爱情悲剧.女主人公淑美丽聪慧,更具有独立的人格,不羁的思想,蔑视僵化的世俗和宗教.而淑的性格中的妥协性是导致她与裘德爱情悲剧的重要因素,决定其命运的根本力量.她最初表现出的反叛与桀骜不驯,最终又被其妥协性所吞噬,进而向世俗屈服.本文将通过具体分析淑的言语、行为分别体现她性格中的妥协性,从而进一步探讨其命运的根源.她悲凉的性格轨迹可归咎于维多利亚时代压抑、禁锢的世俗观念,她的内心冲突以及冥冥之中的天意及宿命论.

Intangible Chains of Destiny——On the Compromise of Sue in Jude the Obscure

Abstract： Jude the Obscure is the novel about the tragedy of love of Jude and Sue,an intelligent and beautiful woman with independent character.But her marriage with Jude is despised and even not admitted by social conventions.Sue' s compromise is the main factor that results in the marriage tragedy of her and Jude and it determines her fate as well.Through analyzing her discourse and behavior,the thesis attributes the root causes of her compromise to the social doctrines,her inner conflicts and the obscure God' s Will.
